Page 114 of the First Decade Book. Santa Tree is one of the most coveted, sought-after, and intricate Radko ornaments of all timeprized by collectors since 1993. And it has an interesting back story, too. This whopper-sized Polish ornament is blown from one piece of glass. First, the Santa on top is mold-blown. After that, the three tiers of the tree and the ball underneath is made using the free-blown technique. Only a highly-skilled glass blower had the skills to produce such a piece. As the story goes, there was one such glass blower who made Santa Tree for Radko. But he had’off’ days. So the size and shape of the piece varied, depending on the day. He attempted to train others to blow Santa Tree, but the results varied. We think this Santa Tree was done on a very good day! A double-sided Santa head rests upon a three-tiered red tree with gold glitter. A shiny green ball finishes out the bottom.
